Lecture “Media, video games and violence”

Video games are one of the most widespread forms of media entertainment and generated an impressive quantity of psychological studies. The most famous topic in the psychology of video games, exacerbated by moral panic and traditional media, is that of the possible effects of violent contents. Is it true that video games could make people violent? Or, on the other hand, are people who enjoy violent media aggressive and violent already? In order to respond to these questions, we will explore research from media and video games psychology, with a focus on the multiple “attraction” and “mediation” factors.
