ABOUT THE INSTITUTE VISION

Institute of Education is nationally and internationally recognized department that implements studies and research in the field of education. Scientific activities and research implemented by the scholars of the Institute of Education influences the development of Lithuanian education system and society in the context of European education and global policy.

MISION

To prepare competent specialists emphasizing learning outcomes which meet the needs of our country, society and its actions which could have an impact on social reality; to develop the highest quality scientific research and to take part in the formation of education policy.

Lecturers and researchers working in the Institute demonstrate high professionalism by developing their competences, publishing articles in scientific and non-scientific journals, participating in international conferences, planning and implementing scientific and applied research projects. This experience is applied and shared in the classwork with students.

Institute of Education implements undergraduate study program Career management and graduate study program Educational Management that is organized in cooperation with International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO). Next to this, it delivers doctoral studies in Education as one of members of the Consortium in Education, in partnership with Klaipeda University, Vilnius University, Mykolas Romeris University and University of Aveiro (Portugal). These programs aim to prepare qualified professionals capable to develop high-level researches, influence social reality and participate in the processes of educational policy-making.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION

The staff of the Institute of Education of VMU are active members of various international scientists network. The Institute of Education is the official Asia – Europe Lifelong Learning HUB institutional representative. The participation in this network ensures the ability to publish doctoral students and their supervisors’ research results in South East Asia. The Institute of Education is a member of EUSCEA (European Science Events Association).

The participation in this association enables to take part in scientific research and cooperate with other 34 institutions in the EU and world. The Institute of Education organizes international conferences.

PROJECTS The Institute is recognized in international education arena as an experienced partner and coordinator of international and national scientific and applied research projects. Most of the projects provide possibility to involve students as active participants into project activities and in this way develop their competences (e.g. Nordplus network for Teacher Education, Knowledge Allience “Promote”, etc.)
